Psychiatric and Psychological Specialties is an interdisciplinary private practice that provides administrative infrastructure and support to licensed mental health clinicians who wish to maintain their own professional identity. We have physical locations in St. Joseph, Michigan and Chicago, Illinois but have transitioned to Telehealth services during COVID and plan to remain a remote practice operating across multiple states.
As a business, we are committed to the values and actions of diversity, building relationships, interdisciplinary treatment, autonomy balanced with support, and competitive compensation. Here is how we live and work our values:
DIVERSITY IN ALL FORMS
- Candidates must have the knowledge, skills, attitudes, experience, and education to provide mental health care from a multicultural perspective.
- Committed to bringing on clinicians with a variety of professional and personal experiences to add to our already diverse clinical team.
- We are a private practice that is owned and run by a woman of color - We don’t just talk about diversity and equity but live and work those values.
- We welcome members of the GLBTQ+, gender non-binary and trans community.
- We are committed to provided services to clients from different states, communities, races, ethnicities, genders, religions, abilities, education levels, immigration status and political affiliations.
- Our team is comprised of professionals from a variety of disciplines, theoretical approaches and training experiences who work across the mental health and wellness spectrum from medication management, traditional psychotherapy, assessment to personal training and wellness services.
RELATIONSHIPS
- We believe in building relationships that will last with our patients, with our fellow team members and with our trainees.
- We are interested in working with people who value stability and good boundaries.
- We are looking for clinicians whose professional values align with our organization’s values while also adding something unique to our team.
- As such, a strong professional identity as a psychotherapist and a dedication to conducting long-term psychotherapy is an excellent fit.
- We meet via Zoom every week as a team to build connections and foster a sense of belonging.
- Senior clinicians are welcome to participate in training activities such as supervision and lectures to stay connected to the next generation of clinicians.

INTERDISCIPLINARY TREATMENT
- We welcome clinicians from all disciplines across mental health: psychiatry, psychology, social work, counseling, physician’s assistants, nurses, etc.
- Our psychiatrists believe in therapy and our therapists believe in medications: we do not see them as mutually exclusive. Plus, our clients need all hands-on deck.
- We value clinicians who work from an integrative theoretical orientation and are flexible in their approach.
- We also value clinicians who have a strong affiliation and identity to a particular orientation.
- We meet weekly as a team and make room on our schedules for care coordination.
- We work to integrate ancillary wellness services to our treatment plans such as nutrition coaching and personal training/movement.
AUTONOMY BALANCED WITH SUPPORT
- This is a Full-time Independent Contractor Position (1099), which means you are your own boss, set your own schedule and create a work/life balance that is right for you.
- Clinicians can be located anywhere as long as you are able to become licensed in the State of Michigan.
- This is an ideal arrangement for professionals who desire clinical autonomy without the burden of managing others, reporting, and being evaluated by a supervisor or the administrative aspects of private practice.
- We take care of the logistics, and you take care of the clients.
- We provide referrals, electronic health record system, insurance credentialing and maintenance, insurance billing, patient collections, full suite of the Zoom medical platform (includes video, phone, and chat), HIPAA compliant encrypted email, marketing, webpage management and general administrative support.
COMPETITIVE COMPENSATION
- You determine what you earn based on billable hours.
- On average, our early career clinicians earn between $65,000-80,000 annually.
- On average, our senior clinicians earn between $80,000-100,000 annually.
- Highly driven clinicians who generate more than 30 billable hours a week can earn between $100,000-150,000 annually.
- Since our business is not an employer but a management service provider, every clinician is an independent contractor and is reimbursed via a 1099 tax status.
Here is what we are looking for:
- Clinicians who are flexible and willing to see patients with a variety of diagnoses and presentations.
- Direct experience working with adolescents and families, ADHD, attachment issues, trauma, and family systems issues.
- Experience providing couples and family therapy is a major plus.
- MUST be licensed or license eligible in Michigan.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain an average minimum caseload of 20 billing hours per week.
- Conduct an intake session and psychotherapy sessions.
