The Caregiver Support Program Coordinator (CSPC) primary responsibilities are to ensure program compliance with VA Central Office (VACO) program standards, program policies, program procedures, and program guidelines and requirements for the general oversight and administration of the Caregiver Support Program. Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Basic Qualifications: Citizenship. Be a citizen of the United States. Education. Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the school of social work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. Licensure. Individuals assigned as social worker program coordinator must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure. English Language Proficiency. Social workers must be proficient in spoken and written English. May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria). Grade Determination: GS-12 Social Worker (Program Coordinator) Experience/Education. One year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills and judgment, demonstrating progressively more professional competency. Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. Licensure/Certification. The CSPS develops policies and procedures for the overall program operation and prepares reports and statistics for facility, VISN, and national use. The CSPC will be responsible for the program's budget and various control points assigned to the program within the assigned areas. As such, the CSPS will meet with the Fiscal Officer that oversees the Caregiver Support Program's fund control points monthly to ensure accuracy, integrity, and the necessary funds are available for to achieve the program's goals and purposes. The CSPC manages and controls the use of data related to these programs regarding day to day functioning and program evaluation. In conjunction with the Service Chief and/or their immediate supervisor; plans, organizes and directs administrative, operational, caregiver, Veteran and personnel activities for the service. The CSPC has experience that demonstrates the advanced practice skill level in Social Work. At least two years' experience should be in an area of specialized Social Work practice. The CSPC must be a License Clinical Social Worker, licensed by a state to practice at the advanced practice level. The CSPC will function in support of caregivers, Veterans and family members throughout the medical center and in community settings. The CSPC is to practice at the advanced level and has specialized knowledge of practice that can be differentiated from the independent practice Social Worker by the ability to expand clinical knowledge in the profession, administer a facility program, provide consultation and guidance to colleagues, role model effective Social Work practice skills, teach or provide orientation to less experienced Social Workers, develop innovations in practice interventions, and provide clinical supervision for Social Work licensure or certification. Duties of the position include, but are not limited to: Administers information and analytical systems to evaluate and enhance the quality of service provided to caregivers, families and Veterans Develops and implements information systems to track service activities including visits, referrals, caregiver demographics, equipment utilization and caregiver and Veteran satisfaction Develops, implements and evaluates clinical guidelines and protocols to establish appropriate utilization of services Assists in assessment of caregiver stress/burden and assists in the development and application of directed clinical treatment interventions if necessary Advises and collaborates with other interdisciplinary teams throughout the medical center on caregiver issues Creates educational tools, develops programs and implements training focused on specific caregiver needs/issues Provides education and in-service training to VAMC employees, Veterans, families and caregivers Develops and facilitates caregiver support groups (face-to-face or VANTS telephone line) and educational programs Assists in the oversight of distributing educational materials provided by VA, local, state and national caregiver organizations to VAMC employees, Veterans, and families and caregivers Assists in conducting caregiver and family clinical interventions to facilitate the identification of caregiver stress, psychiatric illness, emotional distress and social needs as treatment issues Uses professional judgment, including the knowledge of normal and abnormal behaviors, as an inherent competency applied in daily interactions with caregivers and the Veterans they care for Coordinate events and programs for the annual National Family Caregivers Month every November that includes announcement and advertising of month long activities, mobilization of participants, educational sessions, caregiver recognition events and caregiver support programs Conduct home visits in the community and in rural Northern Nevada and California Must maintain a valid unrestricted driver's license Other duties as assigned by management"]
