Rehabilitation Technicians perform an important support role in the rehabilitation continuum as care extenders in the delivery of care, as caretakers of the environment of care and as assistants to the supervisors and front office staff in a variety of office support functions. The combination of roles will vary according to the needs of the program areas to which the Rehabilitation Technician is assigned.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job
Assists with patient treatment procedures under the direct supervision of licensed physical therapists, licensed occupational therapists, and licensed speech therapists. Is able to prepare patients for treatment and demonstrate respect for privacy and dignity, patient positioning and draping, and performs safe transfer techniques and body mechanics.
Maintains the department equipment and clinical supplies in a clean and orderly condition, takes inventory, and makes appropriate request for purchases of needed supplies/equipment.
Assists with record keeping, management of health information, billing, scheduling, and data collection.
Manages time efficiently and follows standard work.
Communicates with respect and professionalism practicing the fundamental behaviors of Simply Better. Practices AIDET at each interaction. Understands and practices confidentiality of PHI.
Demonstrates engagement at work, by recognizing improvements, celebrating accomplishments, acknowledging others, constructively critiquing areas needing improvement, problem solving, and continuously looking to improve through LEAN resources.
Demonstrates competency in safety techniques which may include but not limited to: sterile techniques, monitoring vitals, fire, code and disaster response, effective body mechanics, temperature monitoring schedules, water safety, and infection control.
Lead or participates in maintenance exercise classes.
Demonstrates ability to participate in and use clinic-based information systems and management tools such as: MS office, billing and order management, appointment scheduling, PI initiatives.
