This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Learn more The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in the ARTS / Substance Use treatment / PTSD program completes a full range of primary mental health provider skills and works as a member of the interdisciplinary team and member of the VASF Mental Health Service. While the primary location of work and responsibility for this position is in ARTS program, this NP may sit on department or hospital-wide committees and may also cross-cover other Psychiatric NPs in other areas of the service. The major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Precepts residents and students in multiple clinical settings including but not limited to, the General Psychiatry Outpatient Service, Substance Use and PTSD Clinic, and the Mental Health Access Center. Involved in didactic instruction and mentorship surrounding resident Quality Improvement projects. Highly qualified applicants may be eligible for UCSF School of Nursing appointment. Attends residency faculty meetings and participates in faculty development measures. The ARTS NP has extensive access to supervision and consultation with ARTS psychiatrists regarding pharmacotherapy/ medication management of alcohol, opioid and tobacco use disorders and related mental health conditions. The Home Clinic for 50% of this position is located within the Addiction Recovery Treatment Services (ARTS) in the Substance Use/PTSD Clinic (SUPT).
