This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Learn more The purpose of this assignment is to provide the full range of comprehensive professional social work services to veterans and their families who are inpatients or outpatients at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System, Palo Alto Division. The areas to which the incumbent is assigned to provide and/or arrange for the delivery of services is an acute inpatient medical/surgical unit as well as the medical Emergency Department. The incumbent evaluates and provides complex, multiple social services to individuals and families with a variety of social, emotional and health related problems who come to VAPAHCS from a wide geographic area. Services are timely, comprehensive, and effectively coordinated with services provided by other health care professionals. The incumbent works in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team on a fast paced acute medical/surgical unit and in the ED.
