The incumbent will work as an outpatient psychiatrist within the Mental Health Service Line at the Worcester Lake Avenue campus in Worcester, Massachusetts which is part of the VA Central Western Massachusetts Healthcare System. This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Learn more VA Central Western MA Healthcare System has 85 inpatient mental health beds across 3 inpatient units. The hospital has a large outpatient service on the main campus and 5 affiliated community based outpatient clinics across Central and Western Mass (Springfield, Worcester, Fitchburg, Greenfield and Pittsfield). There is also a 16-bed Compensated Work Therapy/Transitional Residence located in downtown Northampton. The incumbent serves as a clinical team leader, carrying an outpatient prescriber caseload in an interdisciplinary Mental Health Clinic setting at the Worcester Lake Avenue site for VA Central Western MA Healthcare System. Active affiliation with the University of Massachusetts Medical School which attracts more than $200 million in research funding annually, and its innovative programs are the centerpiece of the Massachusetts life science initiative. Possibilities for faculty appointments exist with appointments/ranks contingent on review by UMass. VA CWM has a revitalized research component that consistently offers new opportunities. We regularly have Resident physicians from Baystate Medical Center's Psychiatry Residency program here during their first year substance use rotation, and Baystate and UMASS residents can come for a 4th year elective in PTSD treatment. There are other teaching opportunities as well.
