The Social Worker in this position falls under the Social Work Service Line and has primary responsibility in Medical Care Line Inpatient Section. The Medical Care Line Inpatient Program is composed of seven inpatient units located at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center (MEDVAMC).The mission of these units is to provide effective and timely services that are respectful of and responsive to the needs of the veterans and reflect the mission and values of the medical center.
Providing Health Care for Veterans: The Veterans Health Administration is America’s largest integrated health care system, providing care at 1,255 health care facilities, including 170 medical centers and 1,074 outpatient sites of care of varying complexity (VHA outpatient clinics), serving 9 million enrolled Veterans each year.
