Under limited direction, coordinates the activities of the Sports Medicine Laboratory.Collaborates with physicians and researchers in designing and conducting biomedical education/researchReceives and prepares anatomical specimens, prepares the laboratory and designs specialized fixation devices.Coordinates and supervises in-house surgical procedures for biomedical research on cadaveric specimens in a controlled operating room-like setting including proper positioning and draping of the anatomical specimens.Coordinates and prepares education and training on the use of specialized medical instrumentation and devices and anatomy workshops for physicians, physicianï¿½s assistants and industry. Maintains the bio-skills laboratory to the performance standard defined by DMC Sports Medicine Program and DMC Orthopedic Surgery Residency Program.This includes but is not limited to ordering supplies, organizing equipment and maintaining proper records.Complies with OSHA standards.Performs specimen handling and storage according to established protocols for human or animal tissues and/or body fluids.
1.Bachelorï¿½s degree in Biomedical Engineering or related field.Masterï¿½s degree in Biomedical Engineering or related field preferred.
2.One year of research experience in a related area.
3.Experience designing and building specialized test fixtures preferred.
