PeaceHealth is seeking a Recreation Therapist - Psychiatry PPS Administration (Per Diem) for a per diem, Day shift position.

JOB SUMMARY
Provides recreational services to patients and families. Responsible for assisting in the planning, supervision, implementation, and evaluation of the Therapeutic Recreation program which includes activities of a physical, functional, social and cultural nature. Works as part of the healthcare team to assist patients to maximize their potential.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates patient care needs as it relates to therapeutic recreation.
Documents patient care in health record according to standards.
Participates in process improvement activities.
Ensures own professional effectiveness through education and professional development.
Responsible for recreation therapy program development.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree curriculum with an emphasis in therapeutic recreation required.
Master's degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:
Training and experience commensurate with certification requirements
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
Certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist with the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation is required.
Current credential as required by State to perform the work of a Recreation Therapist.
Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required at date of hire.
Valid driver's license if position requires.
OTHER SKILLS:
Proficient in a variety of computer applications
Knowledge of the theories and concepts of therapeutic recreation, leisure, social psychology, and human development
Knowledge of the diversity of the population including the cultural and diagnostic groups served
Demonstrated understanding of the assessment processes utilized within the therapeutic recreation practice
REGION/LOCATION SPECIFIC NOTES
For Rehab positions: Experience with neurological patients in a hospital setting or experience working with a disabled population is preferred. Must have completed successful field work experience. Knowledge of community's leisure and support opportunities helpful.
ST. JOSEPH PHYSICAL/COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS:
Work requires active physical exertion frequently from 34% to 65% of the time.
Ability to lift objects weighing 30 lbs. or more.
Work is performed under normal working conditions with adequate lighting and ventilation.
Job duties frequently require intense concentration or attention to detail for 34-65% of the work time.
