The Milieu Coordinator participates in ensuring the efficient functioning of the therapeutic milieu along with the Chief Clinical Officer through developing both immediate and ongoing strategies to maintain the therapeutic milieu; provides ongoing supervision of the Psychiatric Assistants. Consistently communications with the Registered Nurses on shift, Director of Nursing, and the Chief Clinical Officer. Works directly with patients to assist them succeed in the milieu program and ensure the patient's safety while on the unit, at school or participating in an activity. MHTs have the primary responsibility for running groups on the unit and for ensuring that the daily schedule is followed.
Monitors resident actions/behaviors and staff interventions within the program
Develops and supervises, with the Program Director, the implementation of specific interventions related to individual residents, small groups of residents, or the entire resident community within the program
Delegates duties to Mental Health Technicians (MHTs) based on resident needs and individual staff members' abilities
Completes Performance Counseling documentation, 90-Day, and Annual Performance Evaluations for MHTs
Identifies the staff development needs of individual staff or groups of staff and implements training plans.
Provides orientation and on-going training didactic and one on one teaching methods to nursing staff
Ensures daily resident schedule is followed
Interacts therapeutically with residents in one to one situations, community and group meetings
Monitors and controls availability of hazards and contraband in in resident areas
knowledgeable in-group process and co-facilitates groups effectively
Has a basic understanding of Common Psychiatric Diagnoses. Can recognize behaviors associated with and use proper intervention techniques for Common Psychiatric Diagnoses
