The GME Psychologist will focus on providing counseling services, crisis intervention, consultation, and resource identification and referral for residents,
fellows, and their family members. In addition, this position will provide consultation for program directors regarding resident and fellow well-being
and/or mental health concerns. Responsibilities also include psychoeducational/informational programming on topics relevant to physicians in training, including stress management, wellness, resilience, mindfulness, balancing work and life, team building, and effective communication. The GME
Psychologist is expected to coordinate and collaborate with all appropriate University and community resources, with an emphasis on problem
prevention and/or early resolution. This will also serve as a mental health expert/consultant on various committees (e.g., Medical Staff Well-Being Committee).
Successful completion of a Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or a related field. Professional clinical training is essential.
Licensed as a Psychologist in the state of California.
Meet all California Board of Psychology Supervisor requirements.
Knowledge of Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) requirements regarding resident and fellow training.
Experience counseling adults with adjustment issues, performance problems, substance abuse, stress, and/or other social/mental health/physical/workplace issues.
Experience in Employee Assistance or related programs.
Knowledge and capacity to use the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-V) to establish accurate diagnostic impressions, formulate treatment plans, and make appropriate referrals.
The GME Psychologist will be expected to work two evenings per week and half a day on Saturday to accommodate the schedules of UCDH Residents and Fellows.
